Board of Directors
Professor in Functional Genomics at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology at Uppsala University. Leif has published more than 300 scientific articles and is a world-leading researcher. He uses domestic animals as models for understanding the genetic basis for phenotypic variation. The discovery of the DMRT3 variant is an outstanding example of how genetic studies of domestic animals can lead to new basic knowledge of important biological mechanisms. Leif is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences in the USA. Board Member of Capilet Genetics.
Associate professor and senior lecturer at the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Gabriella defended her doctoral thesis on gene mapping, the evolution of horses and their domestication at Uppsala University in 2001. Gabriella’s earlier work on genetic mapping became very useful when sequencing the horse genome. She completed a post-doc at Stanford University and has since then conducted many research projects of her own, looking into skeletal atavism in foals, the coat colour silver, summer eczema and the eye disease MCOA syndrome. Board Member of Capilet Genetics.
